I am by no means a lover of most seafood, one of them being fish. However, if I could bottle this sauce up and somehow keep the butter melted 24/7, I would. Not only is this combination of honey and garlic great with baked fish, but I have also used it as a cooking sauce for shrimp. The prep is very quick and you can always alter the time. Especially if you are using smaller salmon filets, or a large piece like I have used in this recipe.
Honey Garlic Salmon
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Salmon fillet
- 2 Tbs. Butter, melted
- 2 Tbs. Honey
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- Zest from 1 Lemon
- 1/2 Lemon, juiced
- 1.2 tsp. Garlic powder
- Fresh ground Salt and Pepper
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a jelly-roll sheet pan with foil and spray with olive oil spray (or non stick cooking spray is fine).
After making sure all the bones are removed from the salmon, place skin side down on the prepared foil.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, Dijon, lemon juice and zest, garlic powder and about 1/2 tsp. salt and fresh cracked pepper.
Using a bbq sauce brush (or back of spoon), spread the sauce on top of the salmon evenly.
Bake in the oven for around 15-17 minutes until it flakes easily with a fork.
Notes
If you like the bright lemon flavor, you can always save a small portion of the sauce and set aside (apart from the salmon sauce) to brush on right after it comes out of the oven.
